Collie history on display at ValleyView
1 min read

¶ PHOTOGRAPHER John Bylund donated prints remaining from his “Ghosts of the Underground” exhibition to ValleyView Residence earlier this week.
The photos, documenting the final days of Collie’s underground mining operations, were taken by Mr Bylund on three separate occasions in 1994 and developed in his personal dark room.
The Collie Art Gallery last year staged an exhibition of the photos, which opened in conjunction with the launch of Mr Bylund’s “Ghosts of the Underground” book.
Mr Bylund said he hoped the prints, which he donated on behalf of Collie Rotary Club, will be enjoyed in their new home.
“Some of the residents may look at them and know people who are in the photos, having worked in the mines,” he said.
“If anyone is visiting they can see them as well.
“It’s a part of Collie’s history.”
