Art to inspire at the gallery

¶ RACHAEL Williams’ “Inspire” exhibition, set to open at the Collie Art Gallery on Saturday, showcases her use of art as therapy.
Mrs Williams said her art began to grow after she began attending night classes held by gallery chairperson Trudi Curran.
“From there, I’ve gotten ideas and inspiration,” she said.
“I started art with Trudi to help with my mental health.
“I’ve been doing it ever since. It’s been a good six or seven years that I’ve been coming in for the night class. It was my therapy.”
Mrs Williams said a range of works will be on display.
“I’ve got my photography in there and some art,” she said.
“There will be a few pieces of life drawing also.”
Mrs Williams hopes her work will in turn provoke the imagination of those who visit the exhibition.
“It is the main reason it is called ‘Inspire,’” she said. “It’s to inspire people to create.
“Art is something that causes a reaction.
“It’s there to get people thinking and to see a different perspective.”
“Inspire” opens this Saturday, 2pm to 4pm, and will show at the gallery, Thursday through to Monday, 10am to 4pm, until September 7.
