¶ COLLIE Shire Council gave the go ahead for a weekend and public holiday cemetery burial price rise at its August meeting.
Under the changed pricing, the fee will rise from $552 to $1400.
This rise will more adequately reflect the true cost of delivering services outside of standard working hours, according to the shire.
The amended fee will allow for the mobilisation of two general hands to attend a weekend service at overtime rates for a period of four hours. 
However, service delivery will also be subject to the availability of staff and the required machinery.
Weekend burials may not always be possible due to staffing constraints and other operational factors.
