River-bound fish hotels
1 min read

¶ RESIDENTS did their bit to support native Collie River fish species at a Leschenault Catchment Council (LCC)-hosted workshop at Minningup Pool last week.
The hands-on workshop, part of the LCC’s Upper Collie River Aquatic Habitat Restoration Project, included the construction of fish hotels.
OzFish representatives guided attendees through building of the hotels, which will be deployed at various locations in the river.
Department of Water and Environmental Regulation scientists also provided an overview of aquatic life in the river, discussing the role of in-stream habitats and demonstrating survey techniques.
The project is supported by State Government and South32 funding, with support provided by the Shire of Collie.
