New shed taking shape at Men’s Shed
1 min read

¶ WORK is progressing on construction of an additional shed at the Collie Men’s Shed after the recent installation of the structure.
Concrete flooring has also been laid, and members have been harnessing their talents to enhance the storage area, which incorporates a sea container that was already in place at the site.
“We’re in the process of fabricating the shelving,” president Kelvin Rabey said.
“We’re then going to make up some gates, and we’re going to enclose the other area around the sea container, which will be another outdoor working area.
“We can bring the furnace out and do blacksmithing. We can bring the plasma cutter out.
“There will be a painting booth there as well.”
The shed will help alleviate storage issues and free up space in the main working area.
Mr Rabey thanked the Collie Rail Heritage Group for moving equipment stored on site, enabling the project to go ahead.
He said credit must go to previous presidents Neil Dodd and Bob McAullay for moving the project forward.
“It is very fulfilling to see it happening,” he said.
“I’d also like to thank Collie Shire for extending the lease and giving us the authority to go ahead with the preparation and planning.”
