¶ A NEW strategic priority focused on good governance has been integrated into Collie Shire’s corporate business plan.
At its May meeting, council gave the go ahead for adjustment of the plan, which will run through to 2026/27 ahead of implementation of an updated plan.
“The suggestion from myself and management is that we incorporate these additional areas to flag a number of areas where we are focusing on good governance and best practice,” shire chief executive officer Phil Anastasakis told councillors.
Four new actions will support the strategic priority to provide good governance across shire operations.
Compliance with statutory legislative and reporting requirements will be monitored, while risk management and awareness will be addressed via implementation of a new framework.
The shire will additionally roll out an information community technology plan and cyber security strategy.
It will also integrate Office of Auditor General best practice guidelines into all of its operations.
Mr Anastasakis acknowledged staffing resources challenges in meeting the plan’s strategic goals, which he described as a “very difficult balancing act”.
