¶ VOLUNTEERING at the Collie Agricultural Society has been a rewarding experience for Christy Kearsley.
Ms Kearsley, who will take on the role of treasurer later this year, encourages other community members to get involved and do their bit to keep the show running in coming years.
“If we don’t have the younger generation coming through, we’re going to lose it,” she said.
“You’ve got to step in.”
As reported by the Bulletin last week, new volunteers are desperately needed to ensure the show’s survival.
While the show can adjust and continue to survive financially, it is a matter of having people in place to drive it forward.
Ms Kearsley said the feedback following last year’s show was overwhelmingly positive.
“It’s something to look forward to,” she said.
“I get the enjoyment of watching kids run around on show day.”
Moving forward, show organisers will continue to explore ways to add to the show.
“We’ve got some ideas we want to implement, we just need more volunteers to implement them,” Ms Kearsley said.
“New people bring fresh ideas and fresh inspiration, and we’re always open to new ideas.”
Anyone interested in lending a hand is encouraged to reach out to the society at (08) 9734 5543 or secretary@collieag.org.au.
