Deliberately lit fire concerns
1 min read

POLICE were last week asking the public for information about deliberately lit fires along the Collie River walk.
Walkers were asked if they had seen anyone lighting fires along the section of the walk from Soldiers’ Park to Preston Road.
Snr Sgt Michelle Cornwall said incidents typically rise heading into the warmer months.
“We have had some deliberately lit fires, which is not unusual,” Snr Sgt Cornwall said. “Over summer it increases a fair bit.  We will start putting out requests for people to report suspicious behaviour in relation to lighting fires.”
Collie residents are being encouraged to report any suspicious activity.
All fires should be reported to the Department of Fire and Emergency Services by calling 000.
Anyone who sees people acting suspiciously in bushland or near a fire is asked to call the police immediately.
