¶ CONSTRUCTION of the Wellington Dam kiosk expansion is expected to get underway later this year.
The State Government allocated $2.9 million to expand the kiosk and undertake water and electrical facilities upgrades at Wellington National Park in its 2025-26 budget.
A Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions (DBCA) spokesperson told the Bulletin planning for the expansion is progressing, with a design and construct tender recently closed.
The tender is under evaluation by the DBCA, the spokesperson added.
“The proposed kiosk expansion will deliver a new 300-square metre facility, featuring a modern kitchen, cool rooms and both indoor and outdoor seating areas,” the spokesperson said.
“The new building will be located in front of the existing kiosk, with the space between the two to be paved and landscaped to enhance the visitor experience.”
A portion of the current kiosk will also be repurposed to provide additional toilet facilities.
The kiosk expansion will be undertaken in conjunction with power, water and sewerage upgrades.
“The works are anticipated to take approximately 12-to-18 months to complete, subject to confirmation with the successful contractor,” the spokesperson said.
